00:34 is Nigerian people's party, NPP and great Nigerian people's party.
00:39 Now let us go to the lesson objectives.
00:50 At the end of today's lesson,
00:52 you should be able to choose the formation
00:55 of Nigerian people's party NPP.
00:59 You should be able to state the sources of finance for NPP.
01:03 You should be able to mention the performance

01:21 and objectives of great Nigerian people's party GNPP.
01:26 You should be able to mention the performance
01:29 or achievements of great Nigerian people's party GNPP.
01:34 This is the formation of Nigerian people's party.
01:39 How was this party formed NPP?
01:42 It was Al-Haji Ibrahim Waziri
01:47 who led the group of Nigerians
01:50 that formed the Nigerian people's party NPP.
01:55 All the members of the party,
01:57 we are Chief Adeniro Ugunsoyan,
02:00 who later became the chairman of the party.
02:05 We also have people like Chief Olu,
02:07 Akim Foshile, Chief Matthew T. Inbu,
02:11 Dr. Obi Wale, Chief Sam Inbapwe,
02:15 Chief Dominique Mubudu, Chief Solomon La Al-Haji Adu Ibrahim.
02:24 Chief Dr. Nam Desiki,
02:26 we later joined the party after his formation
02:29 and he became the leader and featured as NPP.
02:34 The leader and future of NPP was the majority of his members.
02:38 We are members of the first republic, N.C. N.C.
02:43 National Council for Nigerian citizens.
02:48 Then we have the organizational structure of NPP.
02:52 The NPP organized its members.
02:55 Niger people's party organized its members
02:57 at the following levels.
02:58 The world, the town, the district level
03:02 and the local government area.
03:05 This world, the level that is closer to the people
03:09 at the grassroots.
03:11 So each had an executive committee.
03:15 There were also state organizations
03:17 which each state having a consultative committee.
03:21 The executive committee, working committee,
03:24 the parliamentary council of the state conventions.
03:28 At the national level was the National Parliamentary Council
03:33 which was a caucus of the party's federal legislators
03:38 to coordinate the working of the members of the party
03:43 and the national assembly.
03:46 So there were also members.
03:49 They had National Executive Committee
03:52 and E.C. at the national level,
03:54 comprising the national officers
03:56 or state chairman, post-national chairman
04:01 and members holding key positions
04:04 in the federal legislatures.
04:06 So this were the organizational structure
04:09 of Nigerian people's party.
04:11 They also had support for the...
04:15 support from NPP was from the old Anambra Animu state
04:19 in the east and play to a venue state in the north.
04:26 This NPP also had an alliance.
04:29 They had an alliance with NPP and the ruling party
04:32 in the national assembly to facilitate
04:35 the sources of NPP and controlled federal government bills
04:39 in the houses.
04:40 Remember that these political parties
04:43 were among the second Republic political parties.
04:49 Let's all see the sources of finance
04:51 of Nigerian people's party.
04:53 The Nigerian people's party received their phones.
04:57 How they got their phone.
04:59 They received their phone from party registration.
05:01 Before any member can be,
05:03 before anybody can be a member of this party,
05:06 the person had to register with some amount of money.
05:08 From there, the party gets their source of funds.
05:12 Also, membership fees, they pay fees, they pay levies.
05:15 From there, they get their source of funds.
05:18 Against subscription of members and branches,
05:21 they also pay fees, members pay fees levies
05:25 to the political party.
05:26 They are by they get their source of funds.
05:28 Also, they can get proceeds from the entertainment,
05:32 donations, sale of public, publicity items.
05:35 They sell materials like the emblems,
05:38 they sell, party flag, and all that.
05:41 From there, they get their source of funds.
05:44 Also, there is another major area
05:47 that they get their source of funds,
05:49 which was allocations from the Fedeco Fedor Electoral Commission,
05:54 the lateral commission to the Fedor government,
05:56 give them a location from time to time.
05:59 From there, they get their source of funds.

06:06 Number one, to promote the unity of Nigeria.
06:10 They intend to promote the unity of Nigeria
06:14 and sustain her political and territorial sovereignty.

06:22 that has diverse religions, diverse languages,
06:27 so they intend to bring unity irrespective

08:50 The Imo, Anambra, Old Anambra and they played to state.
08:55 It was this party that controlled the Imo,

09:02 Again, NPP contributed a lot to the successful experimentation
09:07 of presidential system of government.
09:11 They tried, in the secondary public,
09:14 to experiment the presidential success
09:17 of presidential system of government.
09:19 Again, of their achievement was that they contributed
09:23 in producing potential prominent politicians in Nigeria.
09:28 This NPP, Nigerian people's party tried a lot
09:32 to produce potential prominent politicians in Nigeria.
09:38 By signing a coalition accord with NPN,
09:41 the NPP saved the collapse of presidential system of government
09:45 at its early inception.
09:48 Also, the party also played opposition role successfully.

10:06 GNPP.
10:09 How was GNPP formed?
10:10 The deformation of GNPP.
10:12 This was formed also by Al-Haji Wa-Ziri Ibrahim.
10:16 He was the one that formed NPP.
10:19 He was also the one that formed GNPP.
10:24 Because of the problem that came up,
10:26 of who would be the party chairman and presidential candidate,
10:30 made him to leave NPP to form great Nigerian people's party.
10:36 He wanted to be the chairman of the party,
10:38 and at the same time be the presidential candidate.
