• If the finite verb in a sentence is:
• a) Present, those in other parts of the sentence should also be in the present.
• b) Past, subsequent verbs, should also be in the past e.g.
• i. Obi says that he is the captain of the team.
• ii. Ola said that he wanted to be the goalkeeper.
