Word Modifiers

Overview

Students should be able to Identify a modifier Describe accurately, different aspects of things, actions, events or experiences by means of appropriate words.

What you'll learn
  • Use of vivid sensuous adjectival words associated with:
  • a) Colors e.g. reddish greenish.
  • b)Smell e.g. sharp pungent, unsavory,
  • Odorous, acrid etc.
  • c) taste e.g. appetizing delicious, better
  • Use of adverbial modifiers showing degree of happening e.g. rapidly gently, sluggishly.
  • Adverbials associate with manner of doing things: rashly, brusquely, carelessly, haphazardly etc.
  • Adverbials associated with rate of occurrence:
  • Frequently, permanently, annually, monthly, hourly, temporarily, occasionally etc.
