Aquatic habitat (Marine Habitat)

Overview

Describe the characteristics of marine habitats. Describe the pattern of distribution of plants and animals in marine habitats, noting the dominant ones. Recognise some adaptive features of the plants and animals in the habitats. Infer the food chain of the organisms. Determine some of the physical factors e.g. temperature, relative humidity, light, wind and pH.

What you'll learn
  • Characteristics of marine habitats.
  • The major zones:
  • (i) Inter-tidal zone.
  • (ii) Littoral zone.
  • (iii) Oceanic zone.
  • Distribution of the Organisms in the habitat.
  • Adaptive features of marine organisms e.g. bladder for floating and holding fast for attachment.
