Way of Making the Soil Fertile (Liming)

Overview

Liming is another key process in reclaiming salinized soils, since the calcium ions from the lime can replace sodium ions on soil exchange sites, allowing clay particles to clump together and improving structure and drainage.

What you'll learn
  • The student will learn the main purpose of liming is to raise soil pH and supply calcium and sometimes magnesium for plant growth.
