Managing and nursing fish feed

Overview

Various processes involved in nursing fish seed (fry/fingerlings) Managing the fish seeds and ensure their survival.

What you'll learn
  • The nursing processes:
  • i. Aeration
  • ii. Feeding with natural food organisms (plankton) after four days
  • iii. Introduction of artificial feeds (powdered feeds after one week)
  • Management processes:
  • i. Separating dead/unfertilized eggs from the hatchlings
  • ii. Monitoring water quality (especially the Dissolved Oxygen (DO), temperature, etc)
  • iii. Transferring outdoors to nursery tanks/ponds after 21 days
  • iv. Sorting the shooters/jumpers from the stunts.
  • v. Rear or raise the jumpers separate from the stunts.
